DETAILS
This beautiful, period antique New England chest on chest features a broken arch top with a tall flame finial over a fan carving flanked by two short drawers, over four graduated long drawers. The bottom section displays three long graduated drawers over a fan carving flanked by two short drawers and raised on bracket feet with an ogee carved apron. Each drawer has brass batwing bail handles and escutcheons. With paper label (on reverse): Winthrop Tappan/ Bath/ Maine. The highboy is sold with several Tappan family items including book Reminiscences of Foreign Travel by Robert C. Winthrop, brush with monogram PT, Governor of Massachusetts engraving, and medical certificate for Dr. E. Sawyer Tappan.
