This large, Cizhou Yao type jar was hand crafted in that ancient tradition, with a long, tapering body and rounded shoulder. Typically, this one has a brown underglaze and black overglaze that streams from the shoulder, down the piece. Used for wine or vinegar storage in ShanXi province, and buried for centuries, this piece now makes an important accessory for the modern home or garden.
