(Item: P2195)
This large, Cizhou Yao type jar, from the Yuan dynasty, was hand crafted in that ancient tradition, with a long, tapering body and rounded shoulder. Typically, this one has a brown underglaze and black overglaze that streams from the shoulder, down the piece. Used for wine or vinegar storage in southern factories, this piece survived centuries, buried in the ground. It now makes an important accessory for the modern home or garden.
