These very early foo dogs (or lions) were hand carved as architectural elements and retain the structural extentions on the rectangular plinths. Fashioned with one holding a pup and the other, an orb, they do display the wear of centuries of outdoor exposure. Of course, they could be remounted as part of a building structure, but would also be wonderful at an entryway or in a garden.
