Hand crafted of earthenware, this small shrine, or niche, was used to house a Buddha in a household altar. The little piece is fashioned like a house porch with a decorative, overhanging roof and decorative, pierced corbels. The back was formed with a receding niche to hold the religious figure. It would be coveted for use in a modern, Buddhist home, or could be used in other, decorative ways.
