Painted in a later, black enamel finish, this medium sized trunk features guilloche borders along the edge of the top and around the base; a most unusual design for a provincial piece. The hand forged and cast iron hardware, including a decorative escutcheon, knob with escutcheon to open the lid, and one remaining swing pull on the side. It is the type of piece that will fit into many decorating styles.
