This unsigned piece depicts a likeness of the early and reknown, English poet, John Milton (1607-74). It is extremely similar, if not identical, to a bust shown in the British National Portrait Gallery; artist unknown and executed posthumously. Notice the blank eyes; reflecting his blindness later in life. Milton was perhaps best known for his work, Paradise Lost. (1607-74).
