(Item: CH1709)
This magnificent piece was hand crafted of one of the world's rarest and most sturdy woods. It features a tall crest rail that is elaborately hand carved with scrolling, foliate designs; a motif that is repeated on the fronts of the roll-out arms and on the apron. The front legs are in a flat, scrolled form borrowed from early Chinese design, and support turned, side stretchers. The caning is recent, with three panels along the back and a single one for the seat, rising on the sides to the arms.
