(Item: B-36-0014)
Unsigned, this piece is attributed to the Chelsea Porcelain Works, c. 1745-69. This small, covered urn may have been part of a garniture set. It displays the soft paste body and the opaque glaze associated with Chelsea; the first English factory to make porcelain. It features applied florettes that imitate the work of the Dresden factories, along with vining, red berries. The flowers are intact; one berry is missing and there is slight damage to some of the leaves. It is a rare survivor and a wonderful addition to any 18th century collection; and certainly a beautiful display piece.
