This small, but extremely heavy bell originally hung in the yard of a chateau in the Burgundy region and was used to call the vineyard workers from the fields, often for communal meals in the kitchen. It would make a wonderful addition to any yard today, and certainly could be used as intended. Roving children would definitely hear its loud and lovely peal.
