Early Spanish Bronze Mortar
(Item: D1497)
Found in France, this fairly small mortar and pestle reflect a form common to the 16th century. The mortar was formed with a flared rim and slightly extended base. The body displays raised vertical, ridged bars alternating with putti faces, surrounding the piece. It makes a great addition to a mortar collection, and an attractive accessory.
Late 16th, early 17th century.
