This magnificent fire surround is a rare find. An early piece, the over-mantel was hand carved with elaborate depictions of three gods flanked by, what appear to be, pregnant caryatids; evoking a fertility message. The piece also features an egg-and-dart border beneath the protruding cornice, bold scrolling details around the carved figures and scrolled patterns on the uprights.
