Pair Indo-Portuguese Goanese Altar Pilasters
(Item: AR5252)
These Portuguese colonial pilasters, or half pillars, flanked an altar in an Indian church. Each displays a small, tiered capital over a rosette block and secondary capital with a scroll design. The uprights are hand carved with floral details. The original, old red, painted finish is accented by gilding on the hand carved, decorative elements. They display a patina of the wear of hundreds of years use.
