This sundial was carved of red toned stone indigenous to the Yorkshire area. It was architecturally designed, with a round crest over a house form that displays the timepiece and holds the large gnomon, or time indicator. With a boldly moulded base, it sits atop a square plinth, atop a round base. Notice the gentle wear of years of weathering and the great patina on the gnomon.
