Hand fashioned with a thick, plank top surmounting four drawers, each with a pierced brass pull, this piece features boldly carved, full length spandrels in the form of tall water lilies climbing from a small vase at the base. The equally bold apron scrolls, in cloud form, with suggestions of foliate patterns. The front of this piece is painted in tones of green and red on the black ground; bright, certainly, but not garish. It will make a lovely and useful sideboard or console table.
