English Victorian Brass Fireplace Footman
(Item: M2499)
Also known as a fireplace trivet, a variation of this piece could be found on every British hearth. These serve as trivets for the proverbial tea kettle and sometimes as low seats next to the fire. This one is of generous size with a decorative, pierced top and apron, and front, cabriole legs; with straight, steel legs with penny feet at the rear. It is a wonderfully decorative piece and could easily double as a small, chair-side table.
