(Shenchu) Also known as a butsudan. Essential to every home, a shrine features many of the finest architectural and cabinetry elements of that culture. This one is notable for its elaborately bracketed roof, early patina and finely painted panels, that depict bamboo and floral motifs. Note the details in the pierced panels and fretwork on the doors. This one also has a drawer and pillars on the facade.
