This exquisite, teapot was made for the European trade in drum form; with straight sides and ribbing throughout the body, spout and lid. The hand painted decoration was executed with a restrained hand, and great finesse, with delicate tulip sprays on the sides and rings of the finest of tracery around the top rim and cover, in tones of bittersweet, green and gilt. The flat, round lid features a bittersweet and gilt strawberry finial.The crossed strap handle, terminating with fern leaves, adds further interest.
