(Item: D0375)
Signed F.B. This finely rendered, oval scene depicts the Greek myth of Leda, a mortal woman, who was admired by the King of the Gods, Zeus. Zeus disguised himself as animals so that he may pursue mortal women without being detected, and here appears to Leda in the form of a swan. It is beautifully mounted in a cellulois frame with chased, gold mounts.
