Pair Indian Hoshiarpur Ivory, Brass Inlaid Teak Peacock Chairs
Item: CH1419
W 30.5″ D 13.5″ H 38.5″
Finely inlaid with ivory and brass in intricate patterns, this pair of chairs was hand crafted with opposing peacock backrests. They do display the wear of centuries of use, but are very decorative pieces. They exhibit the traditional designs of Hoshiarpur, an important center for the making of ivory-inlaid furniture for export to other areas of India and to the West. A matching chair is in the collection of the Mohatta Palace Museum (Pakistan).
