Early Burmese Bronze Buddha

Ref: A-36-0011

This early, antique buddha sits cross legged in a traditional dhyanasana pose on a simple plinth that is flat on the back side. The serene face displays a slight smile, with the hair in an oval topknot (ushnisha) rising to a tall lotus bud finial. The buddha makes a symbolic, mudra gesture with his right hand, holding a small attribute between his thumb and middle figure, with a long stemmed flower in his left. He wears a simple robe draped over one shoulder, and resting on the left arm with no jewelry.
