American Victorian Cast Iron Setter Dog Model

Ref: B-70-0333

This very fine quality sculpture depicts a life-size Setter in his pointing position. Notice the wonderful treatment of his wavy hair, the feathers on his legs and his intense expression. He appears the epitome of the hunter's best friend. This piece retains remnants of an old, black painted finish. It will be the highlight of a special setting indoors or out. Domestic animals were popular garden sculpture in the late 19th century. Canines were made by many American foundries including Robert Wood and Co., J.W. Fiske Iron Works and Hayward, Bartlett and Co.
