Henry Crowther sourced many of his castings for his lead foundry from his father's fine garden ornament business founded in the 1880s. These moulds continue to be used today. This large lead fountainhead is believed to be cast from an original by John Cheere (English, 1709-87). Crafted in the form of a grotesque or masque, this piece was made to mount on a wall fountain. It features a rather contorted face surrounded by a garland of leaves. Can be adapted to a fountainhead upon request.
