An antique, British horse jockey scale seat made in the 19th century. It is fitted with a cast iron and brass scale under the lift top brass tack and leather upholstered seat. There is a single padded armrest with turned supports on one side adjacent to the sliding weigh beam and the stool is raised on ball and baluster turned legs. These scales were used at English horse tracks to determine the jockey's weight before and after a big race. It is a fantastic piece of horse racing history that and would be the talking point of any room.
