From the book Academie de l'Espée, Leiden: B. & A. Elzevir: 1628. Delff was Dutch Golden Age engraver and painter. The image illustrates the defensive postures for a duel involving rapiers used in the Spanish style. Sponsored by the French King Louis XIII it is generally acknowledged as the most lavish and artistically accomplished fencing book ever produced. Framed.
