This wonderfully primitive, antique, six-board chest features a small, hand carved inscription along the front, including the date: 1621. It is a great example of construction of that period, with hand hewn boards displaying hefty dovetailed joinery. The original, cotterpin hinges were replaced with iron, strap hinges. Notice the small, lift-top candle box on the interior. It would make a great coffee table for a rustic room, but also offers great storage.
