Speculoos (or Speculaas) is a traditional, spiced shortbread cookie made in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and other countries around the St. Nicholas feast and Christmas holiday. This folk art cookie mold is carved in cherry on both sides and displays a man and woman with prominent noses and chins, standing in profile in 19th century dress. This piece would be great in a country kitchen or for holiday decor. Note: sold to benefit the Denver Art Museum (Denver, CO). With museum acquisition number.
