Greenland Wood, Fabric and Bone Eskimo Kayaker Model

Ref: D2532

This miniature kayak sculpture is constructed of rope-tied wood with miscellaneous implements, including a bone-tipped paddle and harpoon. The kayaker is protected by a sealskin coaming and wears a cloth anorak; the hood framing a flat wooden face. These miniature kayaks were traditionally built by the Inuit to explain the hunt or to tell stories.
