Large English Victorian Cranberry Glass Wedding Bell

Ref: G1025

A large example of an antique English bell with a hand-blown ruby red glass bell topped by a clear glass handle. The bells began to be called wedding bells during the reign of Queen Victoria, when this type of bell was often given as a wedding gift. On the older examples the base and handle are blown in two parts and joined by plaster of Paris, as in this example. The clappers were often removed to prevent damage.
