English Wedgwood Argenta Ware Majolica Fan and Bird Plate

Attributed to Josiah Wedgwood (Burslem, Etruria and Barlaston, Staffordshire, c. 1759-present)

Impressed with English design registration mark and hand painted pattern number  M2789. Stamped:  AMS Trademark within a Staffordshire knot. According to  Godden's Encyclopedia of Pottery Marks, this is probably a retailer's mark. An Argenta ware plate in the Japanese taste with a three section fan design intersected by birds on cherry branches.
