Continental Wrought Iron Wax Jack

Continental Wrought Iron Wax Jack

Ref: M2529

Quite a rare form, antique wax jacks were made to hold a long wick that coiled around the spindle and up to the scissor-like holder and snuffer at the top. Used to heat wax for sealing documents, they were popular as a desk accoutrement throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
