Japanese Color and Ink Brush Painting on Paper of a Dormice and Grapes

Ref: S-65-0130

Marked (lower right): with a red 9-character seal. Perhaps referencing some old proverb, this painting was whimsically conceived, depicting two dormice feasting on grape vines. The dormouse (yamane) will eat grapes which then ferment in its stomach, making it somewhat inebriated.

Condition note: chip (frame).
