An antique, Baroque period chair with large scale deeply scrolled arms, a raked back with a walnut frame. The carving is robust, but finely executed. The turnings are typical for furniture of the late 17th into the early 18th century. It was the beginning of the era of comfort and this chair displays that in its raked back form. The walnut frame retains its original patina and the back is upholstered in wool needlework with a later gros-point needlepoint wool seat.
