George Jacob Hunzinger (German-American, 1835–98)

Hunzinger was trained in cabinet making in Germany and emigrated to the United States in the 1855. His designs were very popular and widely copied and highly collectable today. He was highly regarded for his innovative and distinctive designs with 21 patents. This attractive rocker is armless with turned diagonal brace supports on traditional rocking legs. It was designed to appear as if it could fold but it does not. Branded: Hunzinger/ N.Y./ Pat. March 3, 1869.
