Arthur C. Begay was born near Newcomb, New Mexico, near the Two Grey Hills Trading Post. In the 1950s, Arthur won a fellowship to study under Norman Rockwell, and spent a year working his studio. Arthur Begay is a well known Navajo artist and an elusive figure. He is listed in Jeanne Snodgrass', American Indian Painters and Patrick Lester's book, The Biographical Directory of Native American Painters. Begay's painting are also in many museums including The Smithsonian Institute.
