DETAILS
This antique fountain head depicts a partially nude woman siren (Syrene) or mermaid (naiad) holding a large fish that forms the spout of the fountain. The figure is nicely rendered with good detail. Notice the water lilies in her hair, her pretty face and her unusual, forked fishtail. It would be a lovely addition to any garden or courtyard. This feminine piece retains the original wonderful old patina in a warm brown. After a model by Provin Serres, who was a student of Mathurin Moreau. Another example of this sculpture appears at the fountain Chateau du Pian (Bouliac, France).
