PROVENANCE
Christie's Auction (Amsterdam, April-May, 1986), Lot 3119. Recovered from the Dutch East India Company ship Geldermalsen, which sank near Java in 1751 and was salvaged in 1985 by a team led by British expert, Captain Michael Hatcher. Over 150,000 pieces of blue and white porcelain were excavated.
