DETAILS
A small antique, parian lilac ground pitcher, molded in relief with a commemorative military scene. It commemorates the actions of Sir Sidney Smith assisting the Turks in the defence of Acre against Napoleon's army in 1799. It was Napoleon's first major defeat. Alcock was well known for these picture jugs modelled in relief.
