Pair of Indo-Portuguese Gilt Painted Teak Altar Pricket Candlesticks

DETAILS
This large and impressive pair of parcel gilt altar sticks was hand carved of teak, with fluting around the tops, concentric rings around the stems and a scroll and floral design on the bases. They sit atop rectangular plinths. As was often the case, these were carved and decorated only on the fronts; that side facing the congregation. These retain the original, hand forged iron prickets and most of the gilt.
