Rare Pair of Indian Mughal Murshidabad Ivory Paduka Slippers

DETAILS
These type of slippers were used in wealthy households or by royalty in the worship area. They were also used as gifts to the most senior priests during special functions. The slippers are from Murshidabad in North Bengal. Until the late 19th century, most of the Royal family members still wore such slippers made out of ivory and/or wood and brass. Even today, the followers of the Vaishnava sect attached to institutions use these same form of slippers.
