Each of these four, lovely, antique etched and engraved plates depicts an important Italian architectural work engraved by Falda, a famous and prolific architect, draftsman and engraver, during the papacy of Alessandro VII. They depict: The Piazza and Portico of the Vatican, The Port Arsenal of the Old City, A Side View of the Capital, and The Palazzo and Gardens of the Castle Gandolf Dodici. These extremely collectible pieces were published by the eminent Giacomo de'Rossi as part of a larger folio. Beautifully framed with marbled and gilt borders, they make a wonderful grouping.
