An antique Scandinavian painting of a nude female figure standing gracefully in front of a kneeling male figure who presents a flower, with a background of lush foliage. Hilkier studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Copenhagen, 1901-7) and in Spain and Italy on scholarships. He also traveled frequently to Paris where he saw the Impressionist style which caused his palette to lighten and his brushwork to become looser. His work may be found in the Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum and the AROS Aarhus Kunstmuseum.
