An antique etching of a head and shoulders portrait of a lady, with her eyes raised upward. She wears an Empire style dress and loose turban. Medium: stipple and soft ground etching with hand coloring. The portrait is of Lady Emma Hart Hamilton (1765-1815), who was the mistress of Horatio Nelson. The artist is unknown but Hamilton modeled for many artists including George Romney and Sir Thomas Lawrence. An example of this engraving is part of the collection of the National Maritime Museum (Greenwich, London), Object PAD3239.
