Pair of Chinese Shanxi Province Stone Foo Dog Statues

Ref: AR3815
These very early, antique 17th century, Chinese foo dogs (or lions) were hand carved as architectural elements and retain the structural extensions on the rectangular plinths. Fashioned with one holding a pup and the other, an orb, they do display the wear of centuries of outdoor exposure. Of course, they could be remounted as part of a building structure, but would also be wonderful at an entryway or in a garden.
