Early Indo-Portuguese Painted Ambry Altar Cabinet

This antique, 18th century altar cupboard is also known as an ambry, Aumbry, or Almery and was found in Goa, India. Hand carved, paneled and painted this altar cabinet displays an arched crest on three sides, and half pilasters flanking the door, which is accented with a gilt fan crest. It is a very scarce example of early colonial style in India.
