This antique, two-door, side cabinet features two large oval reserves with classical maidens in relief. Lund was considered the most important late 19th century Danish cabinet maker, worked intimately together with the leading artists of the day, including his friend, the architectural painter Heinrich Hansen (1821-90), who is almost certainly the designer of this cupboard. The fact that Lund was chosen to equip Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia (n̩e Princess Dagmar of Denmark) with furniture, when she married the heir apparent Alexander (III) in 1866, signals the recognition given to the master craftsman. A royal patronage was issued to Lund in 1870. With paper label.
