Intricately hand carved with a tiny, paisley-style floral design in borders along the edges of the lid and box, this beautiful container was fashioned of ebony. The lid opens to reveal triple mirrors on a swing-out frame, and small compartments over a larger one. The town of Nagina became known for high quality ebony carving beginning in the mid 19th century. The carvers were Muslim and the designs were limited to foliate, floral and geometric patterns.
