This box is intricately hand carved with a tiny, floral borders on the lid and a guilloche pattern on the base. The lid is carved with the name: Brijbashi Lall. The town of Nagina in Northern India became well known for high quality ebony carving beginning in the mid 19th century. The carvers were Muslim and the designs were primarily foliate, floral and geometric patterns.
