This little antique Indian box was fashioned in casket form with a handle on the rectangular, domed, lift top. It features punched details on the sides and terminates on rod legs with penny feet. A lift hasp on the front allows use with a lock. It retains the original patina, but would be nice polished for a more modern look. Dhokra (Dokra) is an ancient, tribal folk art tradition of lost-wax metal casting found in the eastern states of India in West Bengal, Odisha (Orissa), Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
