From the Malabar Coast in the state of Kerala, this is a traditional antique, Indian dowry box used to store jewelry. This rectangular box features a steeply peaked lid inspired by the temple architecture of the region and is mounted with elaborate brass fittings. It opens to a fitted interior. Note the original paint.
